The St. Francis of Assisi Drama Club Program is a full hands-on Musical Theatre Program, which runs from October to March/April. Students meet three times a week including weekends learning choreography, acting and theatre exercises. Students also work with a talented and professional Musical Director in which the students learn the musical score of the current show that the students will be performing.
Our Drama Club also gives students an opportunity to be part of the production design process through Stage Crew. 8th grade students and alumni are eligible to become members of Stage Crew, where students learn how to use power tools, paint, lighting design, and are active members of the set design process. Stage Crew members also are responsible for moving the sets on and off stage during the nights of the performances.
Being a small Catholic School, but with a wonderful growing Theatre Arts Program, the cost of materials (costumes, props, set construction material, lights, etc) have become a little burdensome on our Dram Club budget. So any grants would help cut the cost of materials but also aid in enhancing the production quality with professional materials.
The mission of St. Francis of Assisi School is to provide quality education based on the teachings of Jesus Christ and The Roman Catholic Church. The school encourages each student to attain his/her potential by constantly striving for excellence academically, socially, and morally. We also believe that we have a special responsibility to provide a value of centered education based on the Gospel of Christ and life of our patron, St. Francis of Assisi.
The SFA Drama Club helps in continuing our mission, because through the arts, children and communities can come together in celebration of creativity, and children are given a different medium of expression.
